Evaluation.
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For our course work we had to create the beginning two minutes of a movie with the Genre of our choice. The Genre of our film is Teen Thriller, so to begin with we looked at the beginning of thrillers and teen movies and some teen thrillers, we saw that the within the codes and conventions these sorts of movies always have titles in the beginning and music. Also that in the beginning of these movie they would introduce you to the characters and the storyline whats happening or what is going to happen. Because our movie is a Teen thriller we used these codes and conventions in the way that our actors were teenagers, just like in many teen movies such as "Mean Girls" or "Bring it On". To make sure that it is not just a teen movie we had in incorporate the conventions of a thriller, so like other thrillers we used music that gives the correct atmosphere, because we based ours more on real life so in the mise-en-scene they wear normal clothes that do not take away any attention from the storyline. In many thrillers they use different effects on the film, seeing this we decided to do this as well. for example in "Sin City" they use effect just like the picture below and we tried to get this same effect in some our our footage.
2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product represents teenagers and teen relationship throughout the genre is teen thriller, it’s about a boy who finds out that his girlfriend has cheated on him, and its about how he gets his revenge,on her for what she has done. it shows the problems that we see in today's society, in the way there is alot of violence within groups of young people now adays and how that they think it is acceptable to use violence to make a point. It also shows that people no-longer think about the consequences of there actions on how it will effect them and those around them. This is a real problem within society today, I think it represents many social groups.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?The media institutions that would distribute this kind of movie company’s such as “20th Century Fox”, “Warner Brothers” and “Paramount Pictures” because they are the company’s
that distribute these sorts of films such as the "Wicker man", "Mirrors","Mean Girls" and many more.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
Our product would reach to different audiences, as it is a teen thriller it would interest teenagers due to the actors being young adults, also the costume is modern and looks like it would be warn in everyday life of a teenager, this makes it more interesting and seems more realistic. The storyline of love would attract more women then men as women like love story's, and dramatic story's. It would also interest men as there is a alfer male and also due to the way in which the boy gets revenge it would attract them because men respond to violence in movies as it makes them feel powerful. It would also make them feel protective over there loved ones such as their daughters, girlfriends and wives.
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
As the genre of our film is teen thriller we looked at what is generally in each of these genre's teen movies and thrillers and how each in different ways attracted there audiences. We saw that in teen movies that in the mise-en-scene they have up-to-date costume and also that it is mainly about a boy and girl, in a relationship. So with ours we made sure that our actors were in normal clothes and our story was already about a girl and boy so that in itself would attract some audience. In thriller movies we noted that they have dramatic of scary music in the background and also that they have lots of effects on the screen so it is in different effects. We used some spooky piano music as it added to the atmosphere of the footage. We used different effects as they made it a bit twisted and a little bit like a dream.
Many thrillers are set outside in either dark damp looking spaces or in the dessert somewhere, So thinking about this we decided to set ours in a forest, but also we filmed around houses and such so that it could be linked between the forest and the houses around so it is understandable that she is being chased through a forest.
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
At the beginning of the course I did not know anything about Media and filming now i have learnt many things. During the preliminary task I started to learn how to use a recording camera, since then I have improved my filming, and I started to try different angles of shots and different shots such as mid shot and close up.
I've also learnt when to use a hand held camera and when not to, to get the right effect, and when to use a high angle or low angle shot to make someone seem in power or weak.
I have learnt how to use Adobe Premiere Elements, and how to edit footage and add in transitions to make footage move smoothly through each scene. I have learnt to embed footage into our footage. I have also learnt how to use Photoshop to make film titles, and how to add different effects to tittles for example, to make them blurred around the outside of the words. Also I have learned how to add pictures in and crop around them to get them the right size.

7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I have learnt to double check what the actors are wearing, also if filming a scene on two different days to make sure the background or location is the same as before, so that the mise-en-scene is right, as the film wouldn't work if on moment it is a sunny summers day and the next its dark and there is snow on the ground, that would only work if you are trying to portray time passing by. In our preliminary task we made a mistake in the way that we took two shots of our actress and in one she was wearing a scarf and in another she wasn't. While looking at other peoples preliminary tasks I saw the mistakes of have a light on in one shot but then not in another, this again made me make sure that everything was right and looked the same, to get the correct mise-en-scene.
8. How did the feedback from you recieved help you to make the film better?
Feedback:Gabi + James + Simon said...
Your film at the moment is very good with good camera work and use of lighting. There is one point where it goes split screen but after this you need to take it back to full screen and not leave it as a small view of Lizzie at the bottom of the screen. Some good music would make it more intense and interesting.
With this feedback we dicided to cut out the split screen as we dicided that it did not add the right effect to our film, by doing this we made better progress with out film.
Feedback from classmates:
We need to change the name of our coursework as its not very effective.
We need to edit our 'Dead Dogs' title to make it look more proffesional.
With this feedback we agreed and changed our title to "Unfaithful" as"Dead Dogs" seemed to not be relevent as it was only the name of the place we filmed. Changing this made our film look more professional and the title, explained the film more with this title.
Feedback:
We need to find music
With this feedback we found some music, and put it in the video then after some carful analysis we decided to change it again to Mozarts moonlight sanatra as it goes better with the music.
Feedback: The shots of lizzies' legs when she is running are not effective and make it seem more comical.
With this feedback, we decided to take out this shot and add in a long shot of her running, and this was more effective and added to the atmosphere.
